An Evening of Hungarian Football in Mukachevo

Football fans gathered at the Mihály Munkácsy Hungarian House for an event jointly organized by the Mukachevo Hungarian Society and the Mihály Munkácsy Hungarian House.

The evening opened with a welcome address by Pál Popovics. We were delighted that Bence Gombor, representing the Hungarian Consulate in Uzhhorod, and György Balogh, representing the Hungarian Consulate in Berehove, also honoured our event with their presence.

The evening’s speakers:

Béla Popovics shared stories about Mukachevo’s rich football heritage.

Zoltán Magyar spoke about his career, his ties to Transcarpathia, and his personal experiences.

Péter Csillag offered insights into the research of local football history and the stories behind it.

The event took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere, filled with fascinating stories and cherished memories. At the end of the evening, Consul Bence Gombor expressed his gratitude to the speakers on behalf of the consulate.

But the football evening didn’t end there! The group continued the evening at the Scout House, where we cheered together during the Hungary–Ukraine national team match.
