Mukachevo Hungarian Christmas

The quiet anticipation of Advent and the joyful approach of Christmas filled the Munkácsy Mihály Hungarian House with a warm and intimate atmosphere on December 21, when the Hungarian community of Mukachevo gathered for their seventh annual Christmas celebration. The program began with the ceremonial entrance of the local scouts and the lighting of the Advent candles, followed by festive reflections shared by István Pogány, Roman Catholic parish priest, and Dániel Gulácsy, Reformed pastor.

During the event, Erzsébet Korolyova, president of the Mukachevo branch of the KMKSZ, welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that this year’s celebration carried the motto “Together in Love”, a particularly meaningful message in these challenging times. As part of the program, the participants of the Advent creative contest were awarded, and the evening continued with a festive performance, nativity play, and communal singing.

The celebration concluded with a friendly gathering. This year, Mukachevo Hungarian Christmas once again confirmed that the true meaning of Christmas lies in unity, love, and caring for one another.
