Opening of József Garanyi’s 105th Anniversary Exhibition
Location
Mukachevo, Yaroslav Mudryi st. 10.
Időpont
Thursday, February 26, 2026, 4:00 PM (CET)
The exhibition celebrating the 105th anniversary of József Garanyi’s birth was opened at the Munkácsy Mihály Hungarian House in an intimate and uplifting atmosphere. The exhibition pays a worthy tribute to the rich and diverse oeuvre of the Transcarpathian artist – from harmonious landscapes and sensitive still lifes to striking portraits.
The collection features works owned by the Berehove City Council as well as pieces from László Kovács’s private collection, allowing this valuable exhibition to be presented in Mukachevo as well.
At the event, Consul Bence Gombor said in his speech:
"I am honored to admire József Garanyi’s rich body of work for the second time within just six months."
He also emphasized:
"Even in these difficult times, the staff of the Munkácsy Mihály Hungarian House continue to provide a space for the flourishing of Transcarpathian culture."
We thank artist Attila Kopriva for his celebratory reflections, which further enriched the intellectual spirit of the evening. Special thanks go to László Kovács for sharing his personal memories and fascinating stories, which brought us closer to the life of the painter, and for allowing pieces from his collection to be exhibited in Mukachevo.
The intimate atmosphere of the evening was further enhanced by violinist Liana Pritska, whose artistic performance created a unique ambiance.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CET) until the end of March.
