The musical monodrama “My Beloved, Sárdy” uniquely brings to life the story of János Sárdy, one of the most popular Hungarian singers and bonvivants of the 20th century. The one-man, one-act performance tells the story of a hidden love through the secret diary of a grandmother, blending youthful admiration, feminine sensitivity, and a deep respect for art. This musical narrative captures not only the fate of one man but also the spirit of an era — a time of wars, successes, silences, and new beginnings.

The play features some of János Sárdy’s most famous songs, including “Nagy árat kér a sors a boldogságtól”, “Adj, Uram, Isten”, “Londonban hej…”, and “Nagyapám húszéves volt”.

The event was realized with the support of the Déryné Program, which was established on the initiative of the Hungarian government.
