The play “Placid, or a Game with Death”

For the young, an example; for the elderly, a memory; for his followers, a model and a symbol: Olofsson. Father Placid lived for a hundred years, during which he experienced the earthly hell of the Gulag and God’s grace both during that time and beyond. In difficult days, let us draw strength from the words of this renowned monk and confessor who survived such perils!

He believed that his life’s mission was to keep the spirit alive in his fellow prisoners even under inhumane conditions, which is why, according to him, he was “the happiest man in the Soviet Union” — despite all the horrors of camp life.

The play “Placid, or a Game with Death” was created with the collaboration of the Nemzeti Emlkékezett Bizottság and the Ülj Közelebb Produkció. This work honors the life of Father Placid. It teaches us love and compassion, filling us with many beautiful thoughts and a sense of humor.
